Trapped in Paradise with No Plans for Escape

During our three weeks in Marathon (among other things), we've traded in our small folding bikes for "real" bikes and bought stand-up paddleboards.  Check in later if you'd like to see a picture of Dave and me paddleboarding...

Marathon is certainly a paradise in the winter, complete with hundreds and hundreds of boats and friendly boaters.  We've decided to stay until the middle of March and I think we'll be sad when it's time to move on.

Tomorrow I'm flying back to VA for a week to move our belongings from storage in Richmond to our townhouse in Newport News.  Poor Dave will hang back in paradise...  Can't wait to visit with family and friends and see what it will be like to actually live in the townhouse (it's been rented since we purchased it four years ago)!

Near our anchorage at the entrance of the Little Shark River,
way down south in the Everglades on Florida's west coast.

Dave enjoys the cool water!  We stopped for him to take a dip
as we approached the FL Keys.  The water was so clear we
could see ten feet to the bottom.

Entering Boot Key Harbor, Marathon FL.  Note remains of
the old bridge.

Boot Key Harbor has over 200 mooring balls plus lots of marinas
and anchored boats

A manatee swims behind MAIA.  This one is probably almost
ten feet long.

Manatees love to drink fresh water and this one is on its back
for the water to drip in its mouth.  See its little "arms"?
Manatees have faces only a mother could love and are
protected in FL waters.
